Democrat Congress Ignores American People: Speaker Nancy Pelosi and fellow Democrats pass Obamacare

(Castlewood, SD - 3-21-10) -- Kristi Noem, a candidate for Congress, tonight sharply criticized the actions of the Democrat Majority in Congress, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who just passed a government controlled healthcare system.
"Most Americans and especially the vast majority of South Dakotans, are strongly opposed to the federal government running our healthcare system; and yet the Democrats in Congress just rammed Obamacare through," Noem stated.
"This was the wrong discussion at the wrong time. South Dakotans need jobs, not more government mandates, taxes, and regulation. This is a job killing bill and unfortunately the Democratic Congress turned a deaf ear to the people."
Sunday night the Democrat controlled House of Representatives voted to pass their version of healthcare reform; a reform bill that was pushed by President Obama, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the Democrat party leadership in Congress. Noem also had criticism for Stephanie Herseth Sandlin.
"Stephanie has tried to distance herself from this bad legislation, yet she voted to make Nancy Pelosi the Speaker of the House, who was one of the chief architechts of the Healthcare bill and the process by which it passed the House," Noem declared. "It was Pelosi that led the charge for this bad legislation. If we are going to change Congress, we have to remove the people who are in control and those that elected them to lead."
Noem delivered a note of appreciation to the all people from across the state and nation who tried to get Congress to listen this time, and she stressed that the battle does not stop here. "We can change Congress, by changing who we send there. I ask that all of us who fought this legislation must now use our anger and energy in a positive way to take back our country during the next election. It starts by electing a Representative from South Dakota who believes and thinks like South Dakotans."
Kristi Noem, Republican, was elected to the District 6 South Dakota House of Representatives in the fall of 2006. She currently serves as the Assistant Majority Leader. Kristi, 38, lives with her husband, Bryon, and three children, Kassidy, Kennedy, and Booker, on a ranch near Castlewood, where the family raised Angus cattle and also show Quarter Horses. They currently own an independent insurance agency. Kristi actively farmed with her family for 17 years, owned and operated a hunting operation, and helped manage the family restaurant.
