Cook Political Report Moves SD House Race to “Toss Up”

SIOUX FALLS – The Cook Political Report moved the South Dakota U.S. House race from “Lean Democrat” into the “Toss Up” category late yesterday. This comes after three successive Rasmussen Reports polls showing Kristi Noem with a lead in the race against Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, including a 51%-42% lead in the most recent on August 6th.
“I’m glad the DC pundits are starting to pick up on the same thing we have been sensing out here on the ground in South Dakota for a while - this is a very close race. The more South Dakota voters focus in on this race the more they realize that Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin’s support for more spending, more borrowing and more taxes isn’t the right way forward for our state or our country,” said Noem.
The Cook Political Report is an independent, non-partisan political newsletter that has analyzed and handicapped elections since 1984.
